Close Llama Spitting

Despite being very social herd animals, llamas do sometimes spit at each other (and at humans, too) as a way of either expressing irritation or disciplining lower ranking llamas in a herd.

Close Llama Guards

Ever since the early 1980s, llamas have been used as livestock guards in North America, especially in regions where larger predators are prevalent. Research shows that using llamas as guards effectively reduce losses to predators.

Close Llama Poop

Llama poop is sellable, and actually makes for excellent natural fertilizer. From the top-selling Llama poop company in LA, LLama brew, "Llama manure requires no composting and is a "no-burn" solution to your gardening needs".

Close Llama Travel

Being herd animals, llamas can carry up to 50 pounds for 20 miles a day, and run up to speeds of 35mph. But don't overdo it - llamas will refuse to move, even spit and hiss if you put too much weight on them.

Close Llama Fur

Although not quite as soft as Alpaca wool, llama wool is quite pleasant to the touch, and is often used to craft ropes, rugs, and other tougher fabrics.

Close

From what we've learned, it's clear that llamas can be particularly useful in case of a robot uprising (skynet, siri, HAL 9000, etc.) or other such apocalyptic phenomena (zombies?):

  1. Llamas are social animals, so you'll never be alone.
  2. Llamas spit when threatened, so you can fight back.
  3. Llamas make for excellent guards, so you'll always be protected.
  4. Llamas have a top speed of 35mph, so you can get anywhere at lightning fast speeds.
  5. Llamas are soft and furry, so you can always have something to pet.

Hello There

I’m Cristobal Graña, a Math and Computer Science student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I'm currently a junior, and I've mostly taken classes in software development and systems (C, C++, MIPS, Java, etc.), but I've lately found that I love working with the frontend and UX of websites and apps.
